Brendan O’Kelly teaches Weinberg first-year seminars and Design Thinking and Communication (DTC) courses, in collaboration with faculty from the McCormick School of Engineering. He is especially committed to equitable assessment practices and teaching research methods. Recent seminar topics have included Mars, True Crime, and True Fictions.
Prior to joining the Cook Family Writing Program faculty, O’Kelly taught a wide variety of classes at the University of Oregon, ranging from scientific and technical communication to critical theory, comics studies, and film and media studies.
O’Kelly earned his PhD in English from UCLA, specializing in 20th and 21st century literature, critical theory, and film and media studies.
